Children tend to put different substances into their noses. These items include snacks, peas, beans, buttons, safety pins, erasers and toy pieces. Foreign body causes unilateral, foul-smelling nasal discharge. Despite the antibiotic treatments given, this foul-smelling discharge does not go away. This symptom is a warning for a foreign body in the nose. The patient should be evaluated by an otolaryngologist for the removal of this foreign body that has escaped into the nose.
